Disperse the "Carbopol" 941 in the trichlorethylene and then add the amine. Lastly, stir in the methanol. The methanol acts as a coupling agent to promote solubility of the "Carbopol" 941 amine salt.
The mix will thicken after the methanol addition and rise from an initial viscosity of 1675 cps to 2500 cps (Brookfield, 20 rpm) after 4 hours. It displays good stability in aging. |
