This emulsifier may be replaced in part by sulfonated castor oil; i.e., 0.2 part sulfonated castor oil with 0.2 part of "Aquarex" D or "Duponol" ME.
Prepare the resin solution by dissolving the resin in the solvent at room temperature; make sure the solution is uniform. Then if the viscosity falls outside the specified limits of 25 to 35 poises, make adjustment by adding resin or solvent as the requirements dictate.
Dissolve the emulsifiers in the water. When using the "Dresinols," the ammonium hydroxide, which is added as a pH adjuster, should be added to the "Dresinol" paste which is then diluted slowly with water.
Stir the emulsifier solution into the resin solution to form a premix which is then circulated through a colloid mill or homogenizer to obtain the particle size and stability desired. |
