In the adhesive field, as in the case of many other industries, the
latex or emulsion adhesive that can be thinned with water is rapidly
gaining wide-spread recognition. The majority of these compounds are
based on high molecular weight resins that have been polymerized in a
water medium. Here, too, "Neville" Resins can be used to great
advantage. Their inherent tackiness improves the initial adhesion and

The resin is initially powdered by ball milling or any other conventional means. A slurry is made of the above and passed through a colloid mill at 7200 r.p.m. (Premier Mill, 3.5 in. pulley). Multiple passes are made reducing the mill setting from 0.010 in. to 0.002 in. |
