The microcrystalline wax is added when the ethyl cellulose is completely in solution. The amount used depends on the moisture-vaporproofness desired. About 20 parts will yield maximum resistance to moisture vapor without seriously affecting adhesive properties.
The "Hercolyn" and hydrogenated rosin are heated at 140 to 160C. and the ethyl cellulose added slowly with stirring. |
